Green Heroes

We've heard about the threat of climate change from everyone from Sir David Attenborough to Greta Thunberg, Extinction Rebellion to Greenpeace, and our friends, neighbours and children.

I spent time with local activists at the Time Is Now climate action rally in Westminster to listen to their concerns and views on what can only be described as the most pressing issue of modern times: the future of our planet.

What's becoming increasingly clear is that the power to preserve our home doesn't lie in the hands of Governments and corporations alone. Power is in the hands of the dedicated recycler, the ethical buyer, the social media activist, the renewable-energy-powered home, the electric car driver, the cyclist and the walker, the sustainable small business and the bag-for-life carrier.

If we’re going to tackle climate change and help protect our environment, we must all play our part - and with passion. There are some great local examples of people making a real difference who we can celebrate and learn from.

That’s what my new GREEN HEROES campaign is about.

I’ll be highlighting local organisations, businesses and exceptional individuals who are showing, by example, what can be done to help our environment during this time of increasing concern.

You might know a tireless litter picker, a business cutting out plastics; groups replacing car journeys with walking or cycling, or green energy firms delivering zero carbon energy to our homes.

I want to promote all the good our area is doing - but I need YOUR help.

Are you in?

You can get in touch via the contact form on this site and let me know the people and places in Hertford, Bishop's Stortford, Sawbridgeworth and Ware who are making a difference to the health of our planet.

I look forward to hearing from you.
