Mark Prisk MP has provided an update on the planned M11 works.
'Highways England have published a map showing planned improvement works scheduled for 2019-2020. They have advised me that they are currently finalising the programme, and this work is subject to the completion of any required statutory procedures and weather conditions.
Additionally, this spring HE intends to deliver key improvements including:
• Improvements to some advance direction signs to give drivers a clearer indication of destinations and road layout ahead.
• Improved road markings using a highly reflective material on unlit sections of the northbound carriageway to reduce night-time collisions.
• Clearance of trees and vegetation in the verges to improve forward visibility and reduce the risk of strike by an errant vehicle.
• Closure of gaps between nearside verge sections of existing barrier to reduce the risk of errant vehicle leaving the carriageway.
Work will be carried out during weekday nights between 8pm and 6am mainly using hard shoulder and lane closures. When the need to close either carriageway arises, drivers will be diverted off the M11 and will follow a well-signed diversion route.
More to follow.'
