Mark Prisk MP has taken a train ride with Govia managers to see the long-awaited new rolling stock for himself.
In a statement to social media, Mr Prisk said:
'Many of you have expressed your concerns about the local rail service - in particular, the London-bound commuter trains at peak times during the working week.⠀
Our area has been served by some of the oldest and least desirable models on the national rail network. But that’s changing.⠀
I joined Govia managers on a trip out of Moorgate on the new rolling stock that is being introduced across our local railways.⠀
The 717 carriages are equipped with air conditioning, WiFi, charting ports for you digital devices, and are designed to fit more passengers than their dated equivalent.⠀
I’m pleased to see these long-awaited positive changes. They’ll make a real difference to busy commuters’ lives.'
